As I look inside my mind
I see the boy that died
When I tried to decide
Whether life was as nice
As I tried to imbibe
And I felt a divide
Between my soul and my mind
I was born with a heart
That was open to the skies
Now I cry as I try to revive
The boy who's been lost
For such a long time
I can feel him
Deep down inside
But he's scared to return
To the world that has hurt him
The world that has turned him
To a Shell.
Taken all The Light
That had shined from Within
And turned it dim
Like a candle in the Wind;
Extinguished, the love of his kin,
No longer will he be who he's been
For it hurts when you give
And you give and you give
And all you receive
In return for your deeds
Are the backs of the ones
That you so wish to please
So he closed his heart
And he never let them in
To defend from the pain
And the suffering.
When your innocence is lost
You've gotta strive to get it back,
It's not an endless tunnel
I can feel it coming back,
Feel it coming back
I can feel it coming back.

Every time I try
To free my Soul and Mind
I find
Some excuse to leave.
Now I know the truth.

The Innocence of which I speak
Is not reserved for the Young and Weak
But holds a place inside the Heart
Of every child of Man on Earth
And though we've walked
Along a Path
That's lead us far
From our own Heart
And built defences from the start,
Subconsciously of course, we can't
Know the things we do as Young
To protect ourselves from further harm,
But retrospect and wisdom comes
From growing up
And so we must
Look inside and find the love
And trust
And openness we lost
As
Scared Little Kids.
The purity and unity
Of soul and Mind
That's so Divine
And which we find
In every child
Is nurtured by the
Simple Tribes
From which we've all derived.
But in these Giant Nations
These so called Civilisations
Of Pompous Condemnation
And Silent Alienation
Institutionalisation
From which there's no escaping
We find Ourselves Dividing
Our Heart and Mind to
Survive in
And our parents can't be there
Our teachers do not care
Our friends on who we must rely
Have the same Internal Fear
And then it's done
It's over with
Silently without a Fight
Hopelessly Outgunned
We turn into a Ghost;
A shadow of our former host
Without the realisation
We're a Pale Imitation
A Limited Creation
Of a Cold Civilisation
And unless we look into our Heart
And find the Missing Part
There is a chance that we'll depart
From this Earth
Without our Soul
Ever being Whole.
